Earlier today, Apple unexpectedly ran a “WWDC 26-2” livestream on their website. Reporters and enthusiasts alike mostly joined mid-stream as Apple neglected to send any emails or otherwise announce the stream prior to it starting. Regardless, the team here at TechFault was looking through the WWDC archive just in time to catch it before it ended. We were, of course, joined by some enthusiasts from other online spaces.
During this stream, Apple announced what they’re calling the “iPuck”. It’s a device you wear on your shirt, almost like a pin. If you’re familiar with those terrible standalone AI devices that failed a year ago (like the AI “pins” and whatnot), the resemblance is uncanny.
However, this product is different.
The iPuck features two cameras on the front. Tim Cook himself introduced the product during the keynote, wearing it mid-chest like a GoPro or a body camera.
“Make sure to turn it off when you’re pissing,” Cook quipped, “or our engineers will see your dangly cock filling the bowl.” Apple’s CEO made a big smile at the camera and said something like “I’m retiring soon anyway,” then laughed boisterously.
The device is touted as a way to “capture the real you,” and a way to “hold others accountable.” Images were shown of service employees wearing company-branded iPucks at work.
Apple Intelligence is able to pull moments the iPuck captured from your life from basic natural language searches. An example they used was “Show me when Jim slipped on ice” before showing a video of some poor old man landing on his butt.
It’s unclear if the device will have a POV video mode or if it can record Spatial Videos. However, Apple confirmed a Siri-enabled “sentry mode” where Siri will greet people from your contacts using the tech behind Face ID.
The iPuck starts at $899 with 256 GB of storage, configurable up to 4TB of storage at $1899. Pre-orders will ship this November.
